Interesting. I liked the Lobster Bar in Carne County. That was the original spelling of my name, AND the way we pronounce it - though most people refuse [Linked Image]

That's actually the town or village of Carne, located in the county of Wexford.

Ireland uaes "county" in front of the name, not after it as in the U.S., so you get County Dublin, County Cork, etc.

With the single exception of County Durham, we don't do this in England. People just say "I live in Norfolk" or "We're going to Kent," etc. (Although some county names end in -shire, which is the old English term for county -- e.g. Hampshire, Wiltshire.)

I'll make a mental note on your name George. I'd just assumed it was pronounced as spelled. [Linked Image]
