In this house, I found a :new circuit" added by putting a plug on the end of a piece of Romex.

I also found, in the same area, a workbench with wall-mounted 'permanent' receptacles, which were run using SO in a manner similar to Romex; that is, no plug, but through connectors into boxes.

A plastic version of "romex" staples...have two brads.

It's a universal problem.

I often find T&E (British "Romex") wired to a plug, or flexible cords used as fixed wiring on extensions. [Linked Image]
