That's sad, but so true, and it's happened in this country as well.

I've seen study courses for some of our multiple-choice technical exams now that are very much geared toward teaching just enough to check A, B, C, or D on the test paper and get the right answer.

These courses offer almost nothing in the way of giving a good, thorough understanding of the basics.

As you said, enough to pass the test and who cares about anything else?

Let me jump in here with you. Some of those stundents that were mentioned above, manage to become instructors (they instruct just like they do every thing else, substandard). Sounds like you had one.
