I'll bet yours doesn't come in as many flavors as ours does. [Linked Image]

Yes, another four inches today! Really getting tired of it. Maybe if it came in the flavors Electure gets it would not be so bad. Looking forward to spring to get the Bass boat out and relax.

Here's from our place in the mountains.

Happy Anniversary

My wife and I went to our cabin in Oct. 2004 for our anniversary. This is what greeted us when we arrived. Snow was from the night before. The guys from PAR contractors were real heroes. They were up on the poles fixing downed lines in the rain and snow into the night. I had a great time talking with them about linework. The foreman recommended a good movie that shows authentic linework from depression era days. It's called Slim and it stars Henry Fonda.

Watch-out Sandsnow!.
I'd hate to see you get clobbered by all that snow on the roof.
Did that snow snap the mast?.

Yeah, I've seen that one, it was a while ago though, not a bad movie.
Electure,
So that's what a Snow Cone is!, I thought it was another name for a normal Ice cream cone. [Linked Image]

the snow snapped the oak which (part is visible in the lower left) in turn took out the lateral which in turn took our service drop and mast with it.

She doesn't like snow much.

No electricity here for thirty years!

Thanks,

I live in Reno proper, an area that NEVER has snow accumulate, or stay around for more than a few hours. Here is a pic of my truck after the 1/6 storm....with a similar amount being added to it on 1/13.......there are still minor amounts of the stuff laying around!

Kind of reminds me of the good old days in Chicago...and why I left!! :-)

SierraElectrician, what tree species are those?

In my last photo, the trees in front of the old house are giant redwoods planted about 1860, the same time the derelict house in the picture was built and when they were first brought back to Scotland from California (there's been buildings here since at least 1300). We've had more snow in the last few days, maybe the last of the roof will fall in!

The area is called Sierra Cedars and chock full of Cedar. There are alot of Sugar Pine mixed in and a few Doug Fir. The shot does not show it very well but there are hundreds of houses just inside the tree line. This area recieved 5' snow one day and that night 8" of rain and the day after this photo another 4' of snow. The weight of all that snow then snapped the cedars like matchsticks. Inthe fore ground is the cross arm of a utility pole. Almost every secondary drop, riser and service were torn from the houses. An electricians dream come true.
In one case one residents brand new Dodge 1 ton had three different trees fall on it and you could not even tell it was there.
