Ironically enough, this compressor motor was found at a company that produces very high quality pneumatic equipment.

I also like the use of zip-ties to help keep things together.

I also like the use of zip-ties to help keep things together. Sure beats those messy looking junction boxes!

From the square of discolored metal it looks like there was a connection box there at one point.....

A couple of additional items. The ty-rap was used to hold a plastic shopping bag that was wrapped around the motor conductors (presumably to keep water out??) The flex connector was actually not a flex connector at all, but a flex-EMT coupling with the gland ring and nut removed. The whole thing was grounded only through the iron air lines connected to it. It was like this for 2 years despite my constant warning (read scolding), until the motor went bad and was replaced. Good thing a bearing went instead of a ground fault, ehh? Boy these guys make me mad...S

And can't you just bet that if somebody had found himself shaking hands with the juice they'd soon be saying to you "Why didn't you warn us that this could happen?" What voltage motor is this by the way -- 208V, 480V ??

Paul: Well put, "mate." I was going to type something to that effect! Good thing a bearing went instead of a ground fault, ehh? How hard did you have to whack it to get it to stop working?
