No, not kidding. because the only interviews I recall were from neighbors, I do think he was in the house when it blew up.

ThinkGood: The wire in Romex has insulation rated a 90*C- which is close to 200*F. I doubt that the pipes get hot enough to degrade the romex.

A more general note: in one of these code cycles, we need to eliminate all the specific "abandoned wiring" references, and instead have a general provision in section 100!
