Here are two photos that were taken in Rockford, IL while driving along one of the busiest streets in town. There is another sign off to the right. The overhead wires go form one sign to the other via the tree. I believe that the limbs were trimmed off of the tree during a road construction project which is still going on in the area. It is my guess that they stopped short of cutting the tree down when they noticed the wires.

Locust poles were common here in WV before Allegheny Power took over WV Power.

Never saw one in its original location before!

Must be those "decoy poles" designed to blend in with the surroundings...

I wonder why you have to kill a tree first, strip off all the bark, cut it to length, and dip it in creasote before you have to use it to support wires?
