I got a call for a noisy exhaust fan motor for a restaurant... went of the roof & found what might've formerly been a disconnecting means for something???

Randy:

is that switch mounted horzontally ?? and if so where is the gasket for it and seems that person did use wrong switch for that appacation look like 40 cent specal light duty switch.

i rather use true hevey duty switch and right type of enclosed box for it

by the way what the world did that person use something to cover the right side of switch like blank filler or what ?? and the way i see the photo seems that the left side of the switch cover seem they left it open.

if that true let me know randy because where is the faded mark around the switch cover on the left side

merci, marc

Marc,
The switch is mounted facing ^UP^! I've no clue what used to be in the right side of the box, but I've come across rusted out switches & other devices that ended up like this after years & years of weather... This is in La Jolla CA also... Ocean is clearly visible from this 4 story rooftop, so add salt air to the weather!
