We have a boat load of 12-4 mc cable which we would like to use up. It was bought at an auction.
One thing we could use it for ( I think ) is to run two 2 pole 208 volt circuits to one location.
Would this be allowed by code ?

Black - White one 208 circuit

Blue - Red one 208 circuit

Green shared ground.

Yes ?? No ?? Maybe ??

Thanks

200.7(C)(1) allows the use of the white in a cable assembly for an ungrounded conductor if you remark it.

So yes you can run two 208 circuits.

However when I see 12/4 I am thinking one multi wire branch circuit.

Black A

Red B

Blue C

White N

Yes I use it for that also.

We do a pizza chain that has two 208 volt ovens. 4 -11/16 box mounted oven hood with one 12-3 drop cord to each oven. The 12-4 will work great. Just one wire to j box.

Thanks for your input

Sounds like a great use of 12/4 MC

I thought you aren't allowed to remark small guage branch circuit wiring.

Tiger as a general rule you can not.

However there are some exceptions for the white in cable and cord assemblies.

You can find these in 200.7

200.7(C)(3)?

Thanks iwire.

Also, I thought the 208 volt leg (of a delta 3PH) is only to be used for 3 phase, not single phase.

The installation that people seem to be talking about here is with wye connected three phase were the voltage to ground is the same on all three phases.
