The 1996 code changed the strapping requirement for conduits, IMC,RD,EMT.
The code allows the conduits to be supported by the framing members, but are not required to be rigidly supported, except at the boxes.
Our inspector says the handbook picture shows the conduit in a bar joist, in the "V" of the bar joist so the conduit cannot move. I said that is a good installation but that the code does not require that the conduit be place so it will not move. The exception is the strapping at the boxes or temination point.
