My knowledge in this area is limited, so excuse my ignorance please.
I bought two separate wall mounted lights (each holds 60W max bulb) at a local supply store. The lights are designed to be "hard-wired" into an existing electrical box. I want, instead, to wire each individual light with its own extension cord type 16 gauge 3 wire line so that I can plug the lamps into a receptacle instead. Is this safe/ok? Does it hurt to mix the braided copper of the extension cord with the braided aluminum of the light fixtures? Does it matter that the lights say "connect to wiring rated for 90C or higher" (I can't find any extension cord with such a rating) if the 16 gauge cord will otherwise handle the amps/watts that these lamps will pull?
Thanks for any help offered.
