I need to install a rotary phase converter tomarrow and haven't had time to research as much as I had wanted. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the specs:

Runs 220V three phase equipment (In this case an ice cream maker) from a 220v single phase source. The motor is 3 H.P. I'll be installing it approx 30ft from main panel to a 3 phased disconnect then to the phase converter.

My question is what size wire should I use for the branch circuit conductors and what size breaker at the panel? I had already run #12 Romex assuming a single phase 220v load protected by a 2-pole 20. However, the customer got a good deal on a 3 phase ice cream maker. I'm not sure if #12 will still be OK.

Again, any comments would be greatly appreciated.
