I've only been a member here for a few months, but it looks to me like you have it within you to beat the demon...pull from within yourself the same determination that you had for making sure an apprentice was kept safe, the same determination that you have for quality work, the same guts that it took for you to stand on your principles and face off your idjit former boss.
