I have used the clamp on with pretty good success. You have to clamp on at the last ground to the ground rod. The meter I use is made by AMEC and it will read 0.7 ohms if you have not connected on the last lead. The 3, 4 terminal testers are good but if you are just seeing if you are below 25 ohms, the clamp on is easier.
