I have used camcorders with a voice over for take over jobs. They save a lot arguement when an owner or GC try to beat down price after you have fixed or replaced the previous unacceptable work. If you ever take a job over, arguements are gaureented. The former contractor will want to get paid for as much as possible and the owner/GC will not want to pay him anything. An accurate video with appropate remarks gives them something to get on the same page with. It also gives you an accurate record of what you had to start with.
I've found that some GC's and/or thier lawyers hate them because they have a hard time trying to run thier bamboozle games.
While expensive, a good camera, camcorder, and tape recorder save a lot trouble later- especally if you are open about your using them.
