Same here. When I was 12 (around '67), I went to a sleep-over summer camp for 8 weeks. I took an AC/DC multi-band transistor radio.

Knowing how fast batteries go, I went prepared. I took a 50ft spool of lamp cord, a plug, and a socket end like the ivory one above.

The cabin had one duplex receptacle next to the switch (2 porcelain lampholders). I ran the cord from the receptacle to the wall by my cot.

I was the envy of the cabin. A couple of the other kids got their parents to send them plugs and sockets, so we had the best-wired cabin.

Little did I know about the evils of cascading plug strips, if this "installaton" qualifies as such. We never had any problems, though.
