Scott,
Maybe it's the area you are in or maybe you just need to shop around. When I first started, I got insured with the same company that had been my auto insurance since I was 16 and my homeowners since I bought my first house. They were charging me $850.00 for $300,000.00. I contacted an agent for Grange Mutual on the advice of another electrical contractor. He was able to raise my coverage to $1 mil for $275.00 a year.It was no cheaper for $300,000.00!When I called to cancel with my original company they said they could probably match the new quote. I told them the only way I would stay was if they would cover me for the next 3 years for what I had already paid. They didn't go for that. Needless to say, the Grange agent ended up with all my insurance business.
