Looks like the gas lines are Hard-Drawn copper tubing, these tend to have a bit more strength and "give" than soft-drawn.
Which is a good thing, because once you let the refrigerant out with a broken pipe, it costs a fair bit to get the units recharged (this would be at the contractors charge).
Were there any fixings in them brackets at all?.
I've worked on A/C units of this size before and the outdoor units have always been far from light.
One final question, imagine them units in their original position, would there be adequate working space with them disconnects in between the units like that?.
This job is just plain rough, I'd hate to see the standard of the piping below.
