Hello Joe,

My name is Shawn Crawford, I work for an Electrical Engineering firm in Anniston, Alabama as an Engineering Tech, my responsibilities require me to perform various inspections for the projects we design.

The picture here was discovered at one such inspection, at a school in Shelby County Alabama. I was conducting an above ceiling inspection for a job that was renovating an existing building when I noticed a bottle
taped to a structural member that had Romex wiring spliced and rolled up inside! This as you can imagine was quite a discovery. I learned that the county maintenance department had done this in running a circuit to feed a new peice of equipment, they "rigged" up this supposed junction box and spliced their wiring inside. I have been an avid reader of your articles in EC&M magazine so when I actually stumbled across this violation I knew I had to take a photo and send it to you for your personal use.

Thank you for your time,
Shawn Crawford
