Promoting your Website
When
you're ready for the world to see your Website you have to do some work
to make sure they can find it. One thing you have to do to be found is
to list your site with as many search engines as you can. If you
don't do this it is like having a Telephone but your Name and Number is
not in the Book. No one can find you. When you register with them they
will send a computer to surf your site and index the information that it
finds there. This is how it figures out how relevant your Website is to
the term that was searched for.
Another thing you can do is make sure
that your website is listed in as many related Directories as you
can find. There are many different types of directories, you especially
want to be listed in ones that specialize in your particular field or
topic. The best ones are FREE and may also have special listing types
that offer more exposure for a small fee. Where is the best place to be
listed? Go to the popular search engines and try a search just like you
think someone might do that was looking for services you provide.
Example: Someone with a water leak
might search for Plumbers. If one of the top answers happened to
be a directory of plumbers I would want to be listed there if I was a
plumber. Easy, Right? The following are suggestions for those in the
